TDA fire has broken out at the headquarters of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) in Abuja, triggering an emergency response from firefighters and security agencies.
The blaze reportedly started on the fourth floor of the bank’s multi-storey headquarters, located opposite the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Abuja’s Central Business District, before spreading to the upper section of the building.
Thick smoke was seen billowing from the structure as emergency responders battled to contain the flames.
Personnel of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service, the Federal Fire Service, and other emergency agencies were deployed to the scene to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
Security officials also cordoned off the area to facilitate rescue and firefighting operations.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire had not been officially established.
Authorities have also not confirmed any casualties or the extent of damage to office equipment, documents, or other assets.
The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria has since acknowledged the incident in a public statement, confirming that a fire affected parts of its head office while emergency response efforts were underway.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are expected to commence after the blaze is fully extinguished.
Authorities are yet to issue a comprehensive statement on the incident.
