The Federal Ministry of Education has officially launched the Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Business Incubation Certificate (EIBIC) Programme.

EIBIC is a flagship initiative designed to empower young entrepreneurs, drive innovation, and strengthen the role of education in Nigeria’s economic transformation.

The event was launched at the Tertiary Education Trust Fund Auditorium in Abuja on March 25.

Speaking at the launch, the Ministry described the programme as a cornerstone of its reform agenda under the Honourable Minister’s leadership.

The initiative is expected to bridge the gap between education and enterprise by equipping Nigerians with practical skills, business knowledge, and incubation support.

EIBIC Objectives

The EIBIC Programme is structured to:

  1. Drive innovation and enterprise growth by fostering creative solutions and supporting start-ups.
  2. Empower young entrepreneurs with the tools and mentorship needed to build sustainable ventures.
  3. Accelerate inclusive economic growth by promoting job creation and expanding opportunities across sectors.
  4. Strengthen education’s role in national development by integrating entrepreneurship into the learning process.

Officials emphasized that the programme will not only prepare graduates for the job market but also position them as job creators, thereby reducing unemployment and stimulating Nigeria’s economy.

National Impact of EIBIC

According to the Ministry, the EIBIC Programme is expected to unlock new possibilities for young Nigerians by:

  • Promoting innovation-driven job creation.
  • Enhancing the contribution of education to economic transformation.

By aligning education with enterprise, the initiative seeks to make Nigeria’s youth central drivers of national development.

It will ensure that skills acquired in classrooms translate into real-world impact.

Stakeholder Participation

The launch event convened stakeholders from government, academia, industry, and development organisations.

Attendees were presented with the strategic vision of EIBIC, its structure, and opportunities for engagement.
