UPDATE: FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has just been chased out of PDP National Secretariat by party members.

Seyi Makinde, Bala Mohammed and PDP National Chairman Turaki were seated in the hall holding their grounds.
Earlier report
THIS DAWN — A major confrontation broke out on Monday at the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja as FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and two serving governors — Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State — clashed violently over control of the party’s leadership structure.
The chaos marked one of the most dramatic public fallouts yet in the intensifying power struggle within the opposition party.
According to reports, both camps arrived at the Wadata Plaza Secretariat with their preferred factional leaders, triggering a fierce showdown.
The atmosphere quickly degenerated as security operatives loyal to both sides engaged in a free-for-all struggle.
The operatives fired multiple rounds of teargas in an attempt to forcefully secure control of the premises.
Governor Makinde stormed the complex with the party’s newly elected National Secretary, Taofeek Arapaja.
Makinde insisted that the Secretariat must immediately reflect the outcome of the recent PDP congress that produced Arapaja.

Wike on the wrong side of history again
On the other side, FCT Minister Wike arrived with Samuel Anyanwu, the embattled outgoing National Secretary.
Wike maintained that his tenure legally remains valid until December 8, 2025, and therefore cannot be unseated.
The confrontation escalated as both political heavyweights refused to back down, each accusing the other of attempting an illegal takeover of the party’s administrative headquarters.
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, a known ally of Makinde, also reinforced the anti-Wike camp, further heightening tensions around the Secretariat.
Party elders and stakeholders have since expressed deep concern over the incident, warning that the unabating crisis threatens the unity and electoral future of the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Several leaders faulted the conduct of security personnel deployed to the Secretariat, alleging that the police failed to maintain neutrality and instead facilitated actions that worsened the standoff.
As the crisis enters a critical phase, PDP insiders fear that the open confrontation between Wike’s faction and the governors may push the party toward an unprecedented leadership breakdown unless urgent reconciliation measures are instituted.
