TDThe Supreme Court of Nigeria has delivered a landmark judgment that effectively restores control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the faction loyal to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
The outcome of Supreme Court judgment on PDP crisis is as follows:
1. Nullified the Ibadan Convention by Makinde
2. Upholds the suspension of Samuel Anyanwu, thereby nullifying the Abuja Convention by Wike.
3. It means that neither of the Convention is valid in the eye of the law and none can hold claim of PDP.
In a unanimous ruling on Thursday, April 30, 2026, the apex court upheld the suspension of Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), Umaru Bature, and Okechukwu Osuoha who are loyal to FCT Minister, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
The court declared that all actions taken by the suspended officials during their suspensionāincluding the March 29ā30, 2026 convention and subsequent leadership appointmentsāare null and void.
