TDRev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye, parish priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Karku, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been abducted alongside ten others following an armed invasion at his residence around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday.
This was confirmed in an official statement from the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, signed by Diocesan Chancellor Very Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet.
Rev. Shanet said that three people were killed during the attack: Mr. Jacob Dan’azumi, Mr. Maitala Kaura, and Alhaji Kusari.
The Diocese has called for prayers for the safe release of Fr. Asuwaye and the other abducted victims, as well as for the repose of the souls of those killed.
Security Concerns
This incident adds to the growing insecurity in southern Kaduna, where clergy and communities have faced repeated violence in recent years.
Armed groups have increasingly targeted religious leaders, heightening fears among worshippers and local residents.
