THIS DAWN — The African Democratic Congress (ADC), on Monday, witnessed a dramatic surge of political energy.
Two of its leading figures, former Interior Minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, mobilised thousands of supporters in separate events across Osun and Plateau States.
Their message was clear, bold, and uncompromising: the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed Nigerians.
They also assured that the ADC is emerging as the credible alternative ahead of the 2026 and 2027 election cycles.

Aregbesola draws the first blood
Speaking in Ila Orangun, where he was welcomed by an unprecedented crowd of party loyalists and new converts, Aregbesola declared that the APC “has scored A1 in politics and F9 in governance.”
He noted that Nigerians across all regions are exhausted by what he described as years of incompetence and misplaced priorities.
According to him, government anywhere in the world is judged on three core responsibilities:
- ensuring security and welfare,
- sustaining a functional economy, and,
- providing quality education.
“This administration has failed woefully in all three,” he said.
Aregbesola lamented rising insecurity, a worsening economy that is “crushing families,” and a collapsing educational system.
He accused those in power of focusing more on re-election strategies than on rescuing the country from “hunger, fear, and despair.”

His visit to Ila marked, the kickoff of the ADC’s federal constituency tour, and the inauguration of its party organs, signal what many supporters describe as a new political awakening in Osun.
The nationwide ADC membership registration and validation exercise is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
Aregbesola urged supporters to register, mobilise, and take the “gospel of ADC” from palace to village, street to polling unit.
He declared: “Today marked the official commencement of the registration and membership validation exercise of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“As a demonstration of my commitment, I completed my own symbolic registration at Ward 8, Unit 1, Ifofin, in Ilesa East Local Government Area of the State of Osun.
“I encourage all existing members to validate their membership without delay.
“I call on those who have not yet registered to take this opportunity to formally enroll as members of our great party.”
El-Rufai puts Plateau on fire

In a parallel show of force in Jos, thousands of ADC supporters trooped out to welcome Malam Nasir.
El-Rufai was in Plateau State to unveil the party’s National Contact and Mobilization Office.
The former governor dismissed recent waves of political defections as distractions.
He emphasised that Nigerians will still elect leaders of their choice in 2027 based on performance, credibility, and vision—not political theatrics.

He described the ADC as a growing national movement capable of reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape.
“Defection or no defection, Nigerians know what they want,” El-Rufai stated categorically.
He underscored that the ADC is building the structure necessary to compete and win nationwide.
With momentum rising in multiple states, both Aregbesola and El-Rufai signalled that the ADC is positioning itself as the leading alternative to a ruling party they say has betrayed public trust.
