TDFormer Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has launched a blistering attack on President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the wake of the Monday bombings in Maiduguri.
Amaechi accused Tinubu’s government of “literally destroying lives” and abandoning its most sacred duty of safeguarding citizens.
In a lengthy statement, Amaechi condemned what he described as the government’s complacency and incompetence in addressing Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.
He argued that the Maiduguri tragedy was not just another incident of violence but a symbol of failed leadership.
The former Transportation Minister pointed to the daily reality of banditry, terrorism, and communal attacks that continue to devastate communities across the country.
“President Bola Tinubu’s government is killing Nigerians, literally destroying lives.
“He has failed in the most sacred duty of protecting the lives of the citizens of this country,” Amaechi declared.

“Hollow Statements and Empty Promises”
Amaechi accused Tinubu and his allies of living lavishly while ordinary Nigerians endure fear and grief.
He criticized the administration for issuing “hollow statements and empty promises” after tragedies.
According to him, officials now appear indifferent, failing even to acknowledge the scale of loss.
He alleged that the President prioritizes foreign trips and social engagements over urgent national security concerns.
He noted that Nigerians are left to mourn while leaders “dine and party abroad.”
The former Rivers State governor expressed sympathy for the victims of the Maiduguri bombings and their families.
Amaechi described the attack as a damning indictment of failed governance.
He insisted that if the government cannot guarantee safety and peace, it has no business remaining in power.
“If a government cannot guarantee the safety of its people, then it has no right to remain in power.
“President Tinubu should resign,” Amaechi stated.
Amaechi warned that Nigerians will not remain silent forever, predicting that citizens will eventually rise to resist incompetence and reclaim their right to live in peace and dignity.
He emphasized that leadership is not about rhetoric but responsibility, action, and decisive decision-making for the good of the people.
