THIS DAWN — Hon. Jamilu Lawandi Datti Raba Gardama, Special Adviser on Contact and Advocacy to His Excellency Atiku Abubakar and Coordinator of ADC National Contact and Mobilization in Plateau State, has publicly declared that Atiku Abubakar is the right choice to lead Nigeria in 2027.

Gardama’s remarks come as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections, and political endorsements beginning to surface.

In a statement titled “2027: Why Atiku Abubakar Is the Right Choice to Lead Our Nation”, Gardama highlighted Atiku’s democratic credentials.

He cited his generational appeal and economic vision as reasons why he believes the former Vice President stands out among potential candidates.

  • Commitment to Democracy

Gardama emphasized Atiku Abubakar’s long-standing commitment to democratic values and constitutional governance.

He noted that throughout his political career, Atiku has consistently defended democracy, the rule of law, and civil liberties—even at personal and political cost.

“This unwavering democratic spirit is essential for rebuilding trust between the government and the people,” Gardama stated.

  • Generational Appeal

The Plateau coordinator described Atiku as a leader whose appeal cuts across generations, positioning him as a bridge between the old and the young.

  • Experience: Atiku brings decades of governance, public service, and economic management.
  • Youth Inclusion: He has consistently advocated for youth participation in politics, job creation, education, and entrepreneurship.

Gardama argued that Atiku’s recognition of the aspirations of Nigeria’s youth, alongside respect for the wisdom of elders, makes him uniquely positioned to unite diverse demographics.

  • Economic Vision

Highlighting Atiku’s economic record, Gardama pointed to his role as Vice President in promoting private sector-driven growth and reforms that strengthened key sectors of the economy.

  • Private Sector Growth: Atiku has championed innovation and investment.
  • Job Creation: His policies aim to create opportunities for farmers, traders, professionals, and entrepreneurs.
  • Shared Prosperity: Gardama stressed that Atiku’s vision is to ensure prosperity is not limited to a privileged few but shared across society.
  • Call for Unity and Inclusion

Gardama concluded his statement by framing the 2027 elections as a choice between division and unity.

He argued that Atiku represents a democratic tradition that values dialogue over division and inclusion over exclusion.

“Ultimately, 2027 is about choosing a leader who can unite the nation and move it forward with fairness, competence, and compassion,” he said.

Implications

The endorsement reflects growing momentum around Atiku Abubakar’s potential candidacy in 2027.

While official campaigns have yet to begin, Gardama’s statement underscores the narrative that Atiku’s blend of experience, democratic values, and economic vision could resonate with voters seeking stability and reform.

Political analysts note that endorsements from grassroots coordinators and regional figures like Gardama are often early indicators of how national campaigns will mobilize support across Nigeria’s diverse states.

Currently, Nigeria is facing challenges of unemployment, inequality, and political division.

Gardama’s endorsement positions Atiku Abubakar as a candidate who can bridge generational divides, strengthen democratic governance, and drive inclusive economic growth.

As the 2027 elections draw closer, such declarations are likely to shape the conversation around leadership, unity, and the future direction of the nation.
